Food Pantry Update

For 40 years, John Alston came to St. Joseph’s Food Pantry every Tuesday morning to pick up and deliver the non-perishable food items generously donated by parishioners to families in need in East Orange and Newark. At the age of 89, John recently retired from this ministry as he battles cancer. We are blessed to have had John for so many years of selfless service to the community. We offer him heartfelt thanks and ask you to pray for his healing. At the same time, we have two new partners in this ministry. The Franciscan Friars of the Renewal in Newark will be coming regularly to pick up food to distribute at their daily soup kitchen, as will volunteers from the Our Lady of the Valley Soup Kitchen. So please continue to remember the Food Pantry when shopping.

Please note we are especially in need of macaroni & cheese, jarred pasta sauce, peanut butter, dry milk, tuna, canned vegetables (such as green beans, peas, corn, mixed vegetables), as well as pasta, rice, oatmeal, canned soup, canned meat, breakfast cereal, coffee, sugar and canned chili. Please ensure that packages are sealed and have not passed the expiration date. Thank you very much for your continued support!
