A Decision we Make and Remake

Dear Parishioners,

As we continue to experience the winter months and the cold weather, we still have our routines and responsibilities that we follow. We always need to be prepared for anything new that may occur and any change to our regular calendar.

As followers of Jesus, we also want to be prepared for anything new that may come our way. This is because our decision to follow Jesus is not something we make just once. It's a decision we make and remake every day of our lives.

We have no guarantees about where being a follower of Jesus will take us or what it will mean. We can't argue with the Lord or complain about what might happen. He makes no promises. We can't expect a familiar, settled routine when we follow Jesus.

In today's gospel, we hear Jesus calling his disciples. These men weren't prepared for this but they listened to Jesus and followed him. Then they learned about God's Kingdom and watched Jesus perform miracles.

Jesus calls each of us in many different ways. In every way we hear the Lord's teachings and practice them, we're responding to the Lord's call. As we continue to pray for an increase in vocations to the priesthood and religious life, we're praying for a response to God's call.

Let's remember that the Lord calls each of us in many different ways. It may require a change in our routine or in our regular way of life. This is because our decision to follow Jesus is not something we make just once. It is a decision we make and remake every day of our lives.

Sincerely in Christ,

Father Dominick
