Letting Your Light Shine

Dear Parishioners,

There was a young man named Mike. One morning, while eating breakfast, his father walked in, put his arm around him and said, "Have a good day at school, Mike."

Then, for some reason, it dawned on him that his father didn't have to be at work until 9:00 a.m. It was only 7:45. Mike asked his father, "Why do you always leave so early for the office? You don't have to be there until 9:00; it only takes you ten minutes to get there."

His father answered, "You're right, Mike, but I usually try to catch the 8:00 mass at Holy Trinity on my way to work." Mike was very impressed that his father did this. Mike also thought about how he had been complaining about going to mass on Sunday. He then said to his father, "Maybe I should go to daily mass. You've given me an entirely new outlook on Sunday mass."

This story illustrates beautifully how Mike’s father carries out what Jesus teaches in today's gospel:

"Just so, your light must shine before others that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Heavenly Father."

Thank you very much to all of our Parishioners who donated to the Christmas collection. We have received $35,566.00 to date.

I would also like to thank everyone who contributed to the Flower Memorials. All contributions continue to help us give the best care to St. Joseph Parish.

Sincerely in Christ,

Father Dominick
