Our eighth graders have been discussing the great mystery that is God. When given the words of St. Augustine, “You have created us for yourself, O Lord, and our hearts are restless until they rest in you,” the students interpreted them as:
“God created us out of love, for us to believe in Him. He put a curiosity in our hearts making us want to discover the mystery of God. That fire He sparked can only be put out at the time of our death when we will know the mystery of God.”
Truer words were never spoken!
